| The legend Temple of God of River Luohe,work of the Qing time’s famed playwright Lv Lvheng,gives a vivid account of the life and romantic affairs set beside the River Luohe,whereby the author voices his points of view derived from his encounters with the brute social experience.By employing the rare gem Pendant Revival as a nexus governing the plots,the author portrays characters involved in unusual stories,as the tradition dictates.Also,this work represents the trend toward literary stylistic standardization and restructuring in the Qing’s works of legends.Temple of God of River Luohe,as a cogent case in point,not only displays a loyalty to the nature of legends in inventing plots,but also perfectly accommodates the flexible adaptations called for in theatrical effects entailed by this very genre of literary works. |
