| By taking Brian Friels two plays Translations and Making History as examples, the paper first summarizes Friels imaginative narrative strategy in his history plays, and then points out the significant connection between the playwrights history viewpoints and the cultural politics of Field Day Theatre Company founded in the 1980s. After evaluating Friels ethics in the idea of “crossing boarders”, the paper aims at emphasizing the cultural significance of the construction of new criteria in the evaluation of history borrowing in historical plays. |
