Abstract:Based on spoken English corpora,SECCL 2.0 and Friends,a contrastive study is made on the use of subjectivizer by Chinese learners and American natives. With native speakers’ use of subjectivizer as the standard, near half of the forties subjectivizers that were investigated were overused or underused by Chinese learners.Besides, there exist some obviously deviant collections in the Chinese learners’ use of subjectivizer. The reason why Chinese learners can’t use subjectivizer as accurately and proficiently as natives may be attributed to such factors,e.g.,learning strategy, first language transfer, interlanguage fossilizing and conversation environment. This research will shed light on the improvement of future English teaching in China.
