Abstract:As his famous “aesthetic perfectionism”, Schiller believes that beauty and arts are not only the means for morality and loftiness, but also the highest goal that a moral person shall pursue for. On the one hand, Schiller holds that aesthetics can make people get their spiritual emancipation and self-realization, which is an important and long-term topic in current materialistic era; on the other hand, Schillers theory, based on the philosophy of idealism, lacks of specific explanations to the practical ways of realizing aesthetic perfectionism. It is of importantly practical significance to review Schillers aesthetic education thought for the contemporary youth education, literary and art development, and construction of a harmonious society.
