Abstract:In terms of human freedom, Wang Bi and Kant invariably argue that human is not free for its pure phenomenon, while free for its noumenon. For Wang Bi, freedom is ti wu, which means nonbeing controls over being, while in Kant’s eyes, freedom is a transcendental existence in practical reason, and it is also a kind of self-discipline, and therefore the two scholars try to build a kingdom of freedom going from the freedom of “human” to the freedom of “a state” after settling the problem of human freedom.
