Abstract:Having had a history of thousands of years, rhetoric citation has enjoyed the popularity of the public in China, the reason for which might have been related to its distinctive aesthetic features. During every historic stage, rhetoric citation’s aesthetic development has had a close relation with the motive of social culture. Generally speaking, it can be explored from the following seven aspects, i.e. the restrictions of social needs, the influences of worshipping the ancient classics and esteem for the Saints, the infiltration of rituals, the philosophic concepts, the restrictions of the main trends of though and prevailing customs in the literary world, the promotion of social customs and culture, the drive of stylistic development and the boost of the citation theories in the history.
