Wu Jun was a distinguished Taoist who acquired profound attainments in the Tang Dynasty.He was an outstanding writer of Ci Fu as well.His odes extolled the lives in seclusion of leisure and quietness,demonstrated the hard path of practicing Taoist rules,involving critical spirit to the actual world.Wu’s odes included Confucian feelings of worrying the world by taking it as his own duty and Taoist cultural implication of yearning for mountain forest,seeking carefree and freedom and desiring for prolonging life and becoming immortal.Wu also criticized on the fashion of living in seclusion at that time.Wu’s odes spoke in a deep Taoist tone,betraying rich Taoist philosophy.In terms of language performance,Wu was good at borrowing and quoting sentences or titles of former times in his odes;while in terms of manifestation mode,he was clever at rhetorical devices as pi-hsing(literally,"comparing and exalting").Wu Jun deserved to be called an outstanding ode writer of the Tang Dynasty.
