Abstract:Mao Zedongs poems are characterized by rich culture images. Translating his poems is not only a cross-language action, but a cross-cultural conduct. The key to spreading cultural elements embodied in Mao Zedongs poems is to effectively transmit culture images. Under the framework of Space Blending Theory, culture image is constructed when input space of meaning and input space of embodiment can be inter-mapped. In English translation, different strategies should be applied to reconstructing the culture images in the context of target language, so as to select the proper embodiment which corresponds to the original inter-mapped input spaces.
