Abstract:Many traditional researches on artificial utterances (Shortened as AU in the followings) focus on lies or deceptions. Except a few with the aim of politeness or other kindness, most are endowed with some negative meaning of cheating. In reality, AU are much more than lies or false utterances. Even communicators are seldom aware whether their utterances are true or not, for neither intends to cheat. This paper is, from perspective of pragmatic metaphor, to explore the wide use of AU, the frequent transformation of artificial and true utterances as well as the positive effects of AU.
