Abstract:Since the establishment of diplomatic ties between China and India in April 1950, both countries have developed friendly relations on the new foundation. However, as the Indian government pursued the border policies of unilateralism and expansionism, the Sino-Indian border disputes had escalated, which led to the Sino-Indian border war in 1962. Being China’s top policy-maker, Mao Zedong not only resolutely safeguarded China’s sovereignty and territorial integrity, but also made every possible effort to the peaceful settlement of the Sino-India border issue, which fully demonstrated Mao Zedong’s outstanding art of leadership by integrating political struggle with military and diplomatic struggles.
