James Legge is not only a successful translator, but also a pious missionary. As a translator, Legge was once suspected and under great pressure, but he was persistent in translation. As a missionary, he met with many difficulties and misunderstandings, but he insisted on his beliefs. He went on both along the road of translation and the road of preach, at the same time he tried to find out the intersection of these two roads: to translate for missionary purpose, and to serve missionary identity with translator identity.
