The reason why debates on how to generalize core values of socialism have existed in the academic circle, is that the scholars have not deeply grasped the different aspects of socialist core values. The generalizing of socialist core values can be deployed with three dimensions: theoretical basis, distinguishing features, and value orientation. Expressing the inner attribution of socialism, which distinguish the socialism core values from other ones, constitutes the theoretical basis. Fairness and efficiency, the distinguishing attribution of socialist core values, transcend the theory and practice of capitalism and Mao Zedongs traditionally socialist theory. Socialist core values, expressing the value orientation of socialism with Chinese characteristics, stipulate the collectivism values of serving the people as the final orientation. Thus, socialist core values can be generalized as collectivism values of serving the people in insisting on the principle of fairness and efficiency.
