Abstract:Trauma memoirs which narrate and record the writers traumatic experiences and crises they are faced with have been a remarkable phenomenon in the European and American literary world since the 1980s, and have produced profound effect on the society and life of people in these countries. Their rise has resulted from the joining action of three forces, i.e. the traumatic turn in the 1980s, the marginalized groups political need for witnessing their being oppressed and neglected, and the individuals drive for healing his trauma. An exploration of the rise of trauma memoirs can demonstrate motives, paradigms, and theoretical foundation for trauma memoirs, which sets up a solid foundation for the further research into the trauma memoir texts. And this is the significance of this study.
