Abstract:The Chinese international publicity materials usually contain a large number of culture-loaded words, which are very difficult to have the exact equivalence in English in terms of meaning and structure. Therefore, methods of transliteration plus annotation, literal translation plus annotation, and liberal translation should be taken to adjust the original text, and to improve the quality of the translation, so as to convey accurate information to the target language readers. This paper summarizes the culture-loaded words translation principles, which are remaining the culture information of the original text, conforming to the expressive pattern of the target language, and closing to the readers way of thinking. It also summarizes the three translation methods, namely, transliteration plus annotation, literal translation plus annotation, and liberal translation. In this way, the translation can not only realize the expected target of the original text, but also is available to the target readers, so as to achieve the purpose of international publicity.
