| During the reign of the Emperor Liu Che in the Han Dynasty, he mounted a military expedition on the Nanyue Kingdom. It was recorded by The Historical Records that three main troops were sent to the south of the Five Ridges by passing through the north of the Five Ridges. In light of the actual combat experience, there would be no reason for the Qin Dynasty, when mounting a military expedition on the Nanyue Kingdom, to have sent five troops to the south of the Five Ridges as it described in the book Huainan Tzu. The historian LV Simian has pointed out this absurdity in Huainan Tzu. Based on the geography, the hydrological conditions and the archeological findings of the possible expedition routes, this paper rectifies the outdated doctrines of Huainan Tzu, and reexamines the routes and the strategic planning of the military expedition on the Nanyue Kingdom mounted by the Qin Dynasty. |
